Search engine advertisers are decreasing

Submitted by admin on Monday, 29 September 2008One Comment
Search engine advertisers are decreasing Advertiser counts for both Microsoft and Google dropped in the second quarter of 2008, according to a report from AdGooroo. Yahoo was the only one of the three major search engines to see an increase in advertiser count, albeit a small one at 0.03%, found AdGooroo. Both Microsoft’s and Google’s advertiser counts declined, by almost 20% and 6.4%, respectively.

According to AdGooroo, “While advertiser counts have historically been a reliable directional indicator of search revenue, we know that Google is attempting to change the rules of the game by placing increasing emphasis on ad quality. This is particularly evident when looking at the average number of ads displayed per keyword.”

Trailing twelve month advertiser growth for Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft was -8.5%, +9.8%, and -6.7% respectively.
